[...] The second thing I recommend is to block the Internet Archiver from your website. Even if you go through all the trouble and expense of repurchasing your images and blocking the PicScout bad robot, you can still get busted for what the Internet Archive shows on your site. Blocking the IA robot will completely remove current and past versions of your site. I have talked about the Internet Archiver before and the ramifications of allowing it to index your site. Check out my post on <a href="http://customblogging.com/seomike/archives/seo-tips-tricks/when-stop-caching" rel="nofollow">blocking the internet archiver robot</a>.
I went to their site today after reading your post (more than a month after your post) and I still got the same message as you. I guess they don't even have alerts setup to see if any blog mentioned their company. Wow... so old school!

An update on this post: I had a dramatic example of this with a recent client. Their site had tons of errors that made all of their pages fail validation. After I identified the problems, the client put their developers to work on the project of making the site valid. It took several days to complete but after they were done, the number of indexed pages in Google rose from 2 to 4,300. The number of external links credited to the site jumped from 19 to 1,090 since Google could correctly attribute links to the site. Valid HTML makes a HUGE difference!

I would imagine your cached info would display for your friends. Diaspora doesn't have any interest in setting up a centralized server to keep any data.

What happens when my PC is offline? Would there be a stub page somewhere central? Cached info on my friends' pages? Or do I just vanish into the net?
